Arizona Industries for the Blind (AIB) is a social enterprise organization dedicated to enhancing the economic wellbeing and self-sufficiency of Arizonians who are blind through creating and sustaining employment opportunities in industries such as warehousing and distribution (3PL), retail, and administrative services.

Join us as we visit the warehouse and distribution center in Phoenix to learn more about their mission and see firsthand how their employees who are blind or visually impaired are contributing to the organizations success.

 

Staggering statistics:

  • 70% of working age Americans who are blind, are unemployed!
  • 52% of HR Professionals surveyed stated that “there are only a few jobs in their company that people who are blind can work in.”
  • 42% of HR Professionals believe “that it is too expensive to hire a person who is blind.”

Defying the odds:

  • AIB was established in 1952 to provide vocational rehabilitation training to Arizonians who are blind.
  • 55 out of 102 AIB employees are blind or visually impaired.
  • From front line workers to the senior management team, people who are blind work in a competitive employment setting with upward mobility opportunities.
  • Industry standard technology deployed throughout the 175,000 sq. ft. DC, empowering AIB employees to achieve 99% on time delivery and inventory accuracy rating.

  • Space is limited to the first 15 registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • There will be no waitlist for this event


Cancellations:

Attendee must notify WERC in writing via wercouncil@werc.org no later than 3-business days prior to the event for cancellations or substitutions. Should you need to cancel your registration a credit will be issued towards a future meeting that is valid for one-year from the date of the original payment. Registrations may be substituted for another colleague. Credits will not be given for failure to attend, late arrival, or early departure.
